Edinburgh Hypnotherapy & Massage

What is Hypnosis?

Hypnosis or trance is a natural state of focused attention that we move in and out of every day.

We slip into trance when we are absorbed in an experience i.e. reading a book or day dreaming. Trance is such a normal experience that we are often not aware of this process and think that trance must be something else, something more mystical.

The hypnotic state may be experienced as a dozy or pleasantly lethargic feeling, at other times it is a very focused experience where you are totally absorbed in something to the exclusion of all else.

What is Clinical Hypnotherapy?

Clinical hypnotherapy uses hypnosis to treat a variety of medical and psychological problems helping people make beneficial changes in their lives. Unlike stage hypnosis we focus only on the client's needs and goals.

Through trance we are more likely to transform unsatisfactory states, thoughts and emotions into life enhancing experiences.

By working with the unconscious mind which is the storehouse of all our experiences including problems and solutions, we have more abilities to access resources and solutions that create for us an improved quality of life.

So in the hypnotic state beneficial suggestions can be given directly to your more receptive unconscious mind. As these suggestions are more likely to be accepted when you are in trance, a hypnotherapist can seed healthy ideas that can grow into positive influences on your life.
